EWYG POLICIES

Youth Group Membership Policies​
  • The East Wood Youth Group is for 7th – 12th graders of the East Wood congregation and Paris/Henry County community. 

  • The members of this group are committed to growing in their understanding of God's word, strengthening their faith in God, and connecting with the other members of the Youth Group. 

  • One does not have to be a baptized member of the church to be in this group, but it must be understood that this group is not a replacement for the church. It is our intention to provide this group as a means to encourage young people to become part of and connect with the Lord's church. 

  • To maintain membership in this group, the EWYG Guidelines must be followed. The guidelines are: 

    • Clothing

      • Shorts should be no shorter than credit card length above the knee

      • No tank tops or spaghetti straps

      • No large arm holes or exposed midriff

      • No form fitting clothes

    • Expected Behavior

      • No PDA between couples

      • No vaping, smoking, tobacco, or alcohol use

      • No swearing, cursing, foul language, or other inappropriate speech

      • Appreciate/respect the hosts, food, teaching, facility, event that has been prepared for you

    • Events away from the building

      • Everyone should ride the bus or other group chaperone transportation to and from. If there is a sufficient reason that you must drive, the parent must discuss with youth minister or chaperone prior along with expectations of departure. This should be rare and is not preferred

      • Stay within specified boundaries/church property/host property

      • If you are sick or disobedient to the rules, parents will be asked to come pick you up.

    • Overnight retreats/events

      • Guys and girls are not to go into the other’s areas, bunk rooms, cabins, etc. 

      • Specified curfews will be respected

      • Lock-in boundaries/rules will be respected

Youth Group Event Policies​
  • Pay by sign up time

  • There is assistance for those needing help with payment 

  • Younger children attending events: for most things, any child younger than 7th grade is welcome to attend if one of their parents comes as well.

  • Most events are welcome to invite friends outside the youth group. 

    • Friend and their parent/guardian must sign a copy of the rules and return to keep on file.

    • If a signed copy of the rules is not returned, a phone call will be made to the parent for verbal agreement to the rules. 

    • If a phone call cannot be made, the friend will not be permitted to go on the trip.

  • Lock-Ins are for members only 

  • If there are any males present at an event, there must be at least one male adult. If there are any females present at an event, there must be at least one female adult. 

  • The preferred adult to student ratio is 1:5. 

  • Students must ride the bus to events unless other arrangements are agreed upon by the youth minister and their parents. 

  • Bible Class Policies 

    • Two adults in every classroom at all times

    • Youth Group members are expected to be in Bible Class
